LEICESTER, UK

Memorial Centre

JUNE   2020

The space is designed for local residents in Leicester to show grief for the their fallen family members and friends. Remembrance and reflection are the key of the design.

The inspiration of the design came from onion which acted as a gathering point for communal grief. The onion-shaped installation connects the roof, to the first and ground floor. The centre of the pod hangs a chain wind chime and LED lights, representing the voices of the dead. Looking at ceiling, the stained glass on the oculus reflected coloured lights onto the ground, creating different lighting effects throughout the day .
